How can I take better care of myself?
Studies show that people who take their prescriptions on a regular consistent basis increase their chances of successful treatment. Prescription non-compliance can potentially be a dangerous situation that takes 125,000 lives annually. This service can assist seniors, caregivers and people just too busy to remember to take their medication. It can give you peace of mind that you or your loved one are reminded to take medication at the appropriate intervals.
What is the TextMinderRx medication reminder service?
TextMinderRx is a prescription reminder service which delivers text messages to a subscriber’s cell phone. All you need to do is have a cell phone with text messaging service enabled on it and you can use our service. TextMinderRx will send out text messages to the subscriber’s cell phone once they have registered and deliver the text message reminders based on the schedule that is set up within the system. These automated messages based on the schedule that you specify will then aide you in remembering to take your medications.
Simply complete the registration information by clicking in the Sign Up section. You will be asked to provide your name, cell phone number, payment information, and medication reminder schedule including the text messages you would like to receive. Once completed, you will be sent a test text message to your cell phone. Once you receive that message you will return to the site to verify you got the message. That will complete your registration and you will start to receive reminder text messages within 24 hours.
Can I register for someone else?
Yes, if you have a loved one that you would like to sign up for TextMinderRx, all you need to do is provide their cell phone number when registering and we will direct the messages to their cell phone. To complete the registration you will need to verify that the message was received by their phone.
For the system to begin sending text message medication reminders, the following items need to be taken care of:
’Cell Phone Number’ must be provided
The ’verification’ that a message was sent to your cell phone must be checked off on the website to complete registration
The time zone should be selected and the calling schedule should be completed
The billing information for the account needs to be completed. If at anytime your billing information changes, please change it immediately. Any month in which you cannot be billed, the service will be shut off
Anything showing in red or incomplete on the registration will prevent text messages from starting.
How do I set the message schedule?
In the registration section you will be asked to complete the schedule for when you would like to have the text message reminders sent to your cell phone.
How many times will the system remind a subscriber?
Once you are registered, the system will send out messages according to the schedule that you have set up as long as you continue to subscribe.
What will the subscriber see when they get a text message?
When a text message is sent you will see the number from one of our modems sending out the message. The message will also indicate that it is from TextMinderRx.com and will include the text of the message that you specified when you registered. If you would like to change this text, you simply need to return to the system and change your message text. It is important to not respond to the text messages as the modems are only set to send out messages not to receive messages so if you respond no one will receive the text message you send. Please use email to contact us if you have any questions or problems.
How much does this service cost?
The service is $9.95 per month, which is about 30¢ per day, for up to five text messages at up to four times a day. Each additional message above 5 is an additional dollar per month, up to a maximum of $14.95 per month for ten messages a day at up to four times a day.
Couldn’t you just send me an email to remind me?
Email technology only functions when you are in front of your computer and able to get your email. With TextMinderRx, you can be mobile and the text messages will be delivered to you via your cell phone as long as you are within range and have cell phone coverage. If you are out of range, the text message mediation reminder will be delivered to you via your cell phone as soon as you are back in range and have cell phone coverage.
Couldn’t you just call my home number or cell number?
Simply calling you at home or cell phone numbers would not guarantee that we would reach you at the appropriate times. This would then necessitate leaving a voice mail message which may not get to you timely either. Using the new technology of text messaging on cell phones delivers your message more timely and also allows for an audible notice if you have that selected on your phone.
How do you make sure the system sends out timely messages?
We synchronize our servers daily with an atomic clock operated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the United States.
What if I would like to get reminders for more than one medication?
Our service can easily accommodate this. You can set up your reminders for up to ten different medications taken at up to four times per day.
I didn’t get a text message reminder, what might have happened?
We keep detailed logs of all the messages that are sent out by our servers. However, if you are out of network service range for your cell phone, you may not have gotten the message or not gotten it at the correct time. Typically if you are out of range or your cell phone is off or the battery is dead you will not get the message immediately when it was sent; but, you should receive the message as soon as you are back in range or turn your phone back on. Rest assured that your messages leave our servers on time every time they are supposed to be sent to your cell phone.
What cellular service do you recommend?
We do not recommend any particular cellular carrier. Text message reminders sent out from TextMinderRx will work with whatever cellular carrier you already have or may choose. We do recommend that you request a text plan from your cellular provider that will allow for the amount of text messages that you will receive from TextMinderRx. An unlimited text message plan may be the best option for you and we would recommend that you consider that option as it will likely be the most cost effective choice. Please check with your cellular provider though to make sure you have selected the best plan.
